About an hour ago I thought “I haven’t published a new blog post in a while“. So here I am with the update. I hope you’re doing well. Here’s a little of what’s been going on.
I also have a question for you at the end. So be sure to read the bottom of this post.
Songs
I’ve been working on a new collection of songs for you. Right now I have about seven songs close to done. I’ll probably add a few more for an even ten. The new stuff has a real country lean to it and I’m cool with that. At heart, I’m still just a little country boy from Ada, OK. I am hoping for an April release. I have a title and artwork about done and will share that soon.
If you haven’t already you can check out my current music on Spotify. Give it a listen and follow me there so you can get the new music as soon as it comes out.
Campaigns
Sometimes I get asked if I “still run campaigns”. The answer is yes… I never stopped. I think the only real break I’ve taken in the last decade was a few weeks in 2010.
I’d been on a big run for two years and hadn’t taken a break of any kind. I flew out to Maui and spent a few weeks almost totally disconnected. Eleven years later – – I’m probably be due for another break… we’ll see.
People ask me if they can do Aff marketing. The most honest answer I can give is “Yes – but if you really want to do it… you’ve got to be a little obsessed.” I think David Lynch summed it up best. He calls it ‘The Art Life‘:
“You drink coffee, you smoke cigarettes, and you paint, and that’s it.”
David Lynch
For me it’s “You drink coffee, you make music and you run campaigns, and that’s it.” This works well for me. I’m obsessed with running campaigns. As I’ve said many times in the past here… being obsessive can make you successful or it can kill you. It just depends on what you decide to focus on. So choose wisely.
Coffee
Let me ask you a question (or two).
Over the last month or so I have been doing a daily live show on Youtube called ‘Morning Coffee’. What was supposed to be a ten minute coffee cheers in the morning has turned into an hour long stream five days a week. We even have official coffee mugs.
The streams have become a pretty wild free-form thing. I kick it off with a little acoustic guitar music and a thought for the day. Then the live audience takes over and we talk about anything they want. Topics range from affiliate marketing and music production to investing in index funds. Sometimes we just laugh and I make up goofy songs. No rules.
It’s a good time and it’s easy for me to do. My best blog posts have taken up to nine hours over several days to write. A live stream on YouTube is automatic and just happens.
Lately people have been asking me why these videos aren’t posted to the website. I can’t think of a good answer. My loose idea is to start posting the videos on the blog and send you an update via email so you can check it out. Probably not every day. But a once per week summary with links to them all might work great.
You’ve been reading this blog for a long time. So I’m curious to hear what you think.
I have two questions for you:
- Did you know that I was doing a daily stream on YouTube? (just curious)
- Would you like to be updated on the blog and the email list on these streams?
If you’re reading this in an email just hit reply. If you’re reading this on the blog you can also use the comment box below.
That’s it for now. I hope you’re doing well and I’ll talk to ya soon.
See you in the future,
